Coaching

Building judgement under pressure

I work with leaders who want to lead with courage and compassion when it counts.

Who I coach

Leaders who carry responsibility

I work with leaders in manufacturing, production and operations. That includes plant managers, supervisors, maintenance managers and operations managers.

I also work with small business owners and sole operators seeking guidance. Many leaders care deeply about doing a good job and want to become wiser leaders.

Entry-level and manufacturing workers are often motivated differently from office-based staff. That can make leading them harder, especially when the pressure is already high.

What we work on

Seeing the situation clearly

  • Building self-awareness and understanding what is happening for you as a leader.
  • Developing the confidence to hold people to account.
  • Working through difficult conversations and conflict.
  • Choosing the right leadership style for the situation.

Tools I use

Useful ways to pause and reflect

  • Predictive Index. It shows how well someone’s workplace behaviours fit their role, and flags when a person is at risk of burning out. I would like more clients using it for developing managers and for hiring.
  • Positive Intelligence. It helps identify the thoughts that help and hinder, and supports emotional regulation so people can make better choices in the moment.
  • MBTI. I use MBTI as one of the tools available in coaching conversations.
  • The Power Pause. It builds deliberate pauses into the day for reflection and balance. A ten minute break returns you more productive.

Building judgement, not dependency

Many leaders lack support or encouragement from their own boss to make decisions others will back.

Coaching gives us a focused, reflective and objective conversation about the situations you are already in. My aim is your own judgement, not dependency on me.
